First Day of Grade 7 – UPC Stories

When I first walked through those big front doors into the school on the first day of school, my heart was pounding out of my chest. I walked into The Den, and there, I saw a few of my buddies sitting down at the tables. I walked over to them and sat down. It made me feel a lot better when I realized that they were just as nervous as I was. We all walked through the big crowd to get a look at the class lists. At this point, I was calmed down a tiny bit, but my heart was still pounding like a bass drum. I was super relieved to find out that I had a few of my friends in my class. But I was even more excited to see all the people that I didn’t know, because that gave me an opportunity to make many new friends. I was still very nervous as I walked down the hallways to my classroom, because I was a grade seven and I was intimidated by all of the older kids. I got to my classroom and sat down by my friends. the first day went by like a breeze. My class was amazing and always so welcoming. I never felt like I didn’t fit in. Those next weeks flew by, and before I knew it, it was camp week. I was in a group with a few of my friends, but a lot of people that I had never met. What made me happy was that, everyone in my group was different in some way, And by the end of that week we were all a lot closer. I made many friends that week. I think that the part of our mission statement that really hit me the hardest, is United in our Diversity. And this year has really united me with people that I never thought I would ever fit in with. But at the end of the day, its not what is on the outside, but it’s what’s on the inside that really matters.
